Mission of the Center for Pulmonary Functional Imaging

To develop and utilize advanced imaging technologies to measure regional and temporal changes of pulmonary functions including ventilation, perfusion, motion and gas exchange.

To form a community of specialists in various fields with the common goal of understanding the mechanisms of pulmonary disorders using advanced techniques.

To translate the state-of-the-art science and technology of pulmonary imaging into clinical practice to achieve earlier and more accurate detection of the disease, assessment of emerging pharmacological agents, and new treatments for the patients.

To serve as a core resource for Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Harvard medical community, as well as regional and international researchers interested in the advancement of pulmonary medicine.
